On the 14th of December 2022, the Parc de Verregat was inaugurated with pomp and ceremony in the presence of local residents!
The final touches have been made to the Parc de Verregat! It has been extended from 1.2 to 1.7 hectares and now boasts broad walkways for pedestrians and cyclists heading from Car Park C to the front of the Exhibition Halls and the King Baudouin Stadium. It thus pleasantly links up the Chaussée Romaine and Avenue Impératrice Charlotte.
New facilities such as a playground, a basketball and football pitch, table football and other activities have been installed to the delight of local residents, but also of children and residents living nearby, particularly in the Cité Modèle housing project.
The inauguration of the Parc de Verregat is part of the transformation of the Heysel plateau undertaken by the NEO project. The extension of the park and its redevelopment into a large recreational green space make up the first stage in the greening of the plateau, which will ultimately offer 40% more green spaces. Green spaces are at the heart of NEO’s 15-minute city project, which allows the people of Brussels to take advantage of collective facilities such as this one on their doorstep.
