{"id":2589,"date":"2025-02-14T18:13:59","date_gmt":"2025-02-14T17:13:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/neobrussels.com\/la-voie-de-liaison-cest-en-cours\/"},"modified":"2025-03-17T17:39:03","modified_gmt":"2025-03-17T16:39:03","slug":"la-voie-de-liaison-cest-en-cours","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/neobrussels.com\/en\/la-voie-de-liaison-cest-en-cours\/","title":{"rendered":"October 2024: The connecting roadway is under construction !"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We are currently building a connecting roadway in Flanders linking Parking C (10,000 places) to Avenue Imp\u00e9ratrice Charlotte through a tunnel under Chauss\u00e9e Romaine.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2471\" src=\"https:\/\/neobrussels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Voie-de-liaison-News.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"615\" height=\"347\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Two sets of two lanes that will eventually connect the Brussels Ring and<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.visit.brussels\/en\/visitors\/plan-your-trip\/heysel-a-neighbourhood-of-attractions-at-the-heart-of-green-open-spaces\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Heysel Plateau<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> via Parking C, under Chauss\u00e9e Romaine.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A tunnel linking the Brussels-Capital Region to the Flemish Region, emerging in the municipality of Grimbergen.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although this appears insignificant, it is truly a major step in the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/neobrussels.com\/en\/for-the-public\/the-project\/mobility\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> NEO Brussels project.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> That is because this connecting roadway<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will ensure smooth traffic flows into Heysel Plateau by relieving congestion from the adjacent neighbourhoods and roads. The project will also redesign and extend Parc du Verregat (Verregatpark) to improve access for cyclists and pedestrians.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NEO will enhance the accessibility of the area, which already has good public transport links (served by one metro line, three STIB tram lines and various STIB and De Lijn buses) and road links (A12 and the Brussels Ring) and is situated near Zaventem airport.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It took a long while to get the ball rolling (with permit applications being particularly time-consuming), but there is a light at the end of the tunnel with work due for completion in 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Every year, 8 million visitors travel to Heysel by car or public transport. With the NEO project, this figure is bound to rise. That&#8217;s why mobility is a fundamental issue for the accessibility and tranquillity of the site.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are currently building a connecting roadway
